J.L. Chancy was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, home of the Mothman. Her prompt export across the river to Meigs County, Ohio did little to separate her from the superstitions and legends that stalked the hills of her Appalchian home. So, it’s hard to say whether it was nature or nuture that made her a macabre-loving, fantasy nerd from day one. 

She earned a B.A. in English from Shawnee State University and it looked as though her career was headed towards education until tragedy struck. From those struggles her stories began to take shape. Her response to depression, anger, and feelings of helplessness was to create powerful characters capable of all forms of badassery. She figured if it wasn’t legal for her to kick ass at least someone could. 

Now those stories won’t leave her alone. So, she has set out on a quest to tell them in the hopes that she can help others escape from whatever is haunting them…ya know, like adulting.
